Donato Malerba is a full professor at the Dept. of Computer Science, University of Bari, Italy. His research activity mainly concerns machine learning, data mining and Big Data. He published more than 200 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He has been responsible for the local research unit of several European and National projects, and received an IBM Faculty Award in 2004. He is the Director of the Computer Science Department of the University of Bari and of the CINI Lab on Big Data. He is in the Board of Directors of the Big Data Value Association and in the Partnership Board of the PPP Big Data Value. He was Program (co-)Chair of IEA-AIE 2005, ISMIS 2006, SEBD 2007, ECMLPKDD 2011, and General Chair of ALT/DS 2016. He is in the editorial board of several international journals. IEEE member since 1987.
